Following the WHUISA mini-survey a couple of weeks ago we noticed what poor condition many of the Champions Stones are in.

Upon Tweeting the results, we received an amount of feedback which we’ve presented to Supporter Liaison Officer Jake Heath.

The concerns broadly covered three areas; How dirty they were, how poor the grouting is around and in them as well as the trouble some people have had finding their stone at all.

As usual Jake was prompt in reply and assured us the next scheduled clean of the stones will be ahead of our Premier League opening fixture against Manchester City on Saturday, 10th of August.

They would appear to need it.

Heath could not say when the stones would be re-grouted but is reviewing the situation with a view to scheduling works as soon as possible.

Again, this process can’t come quickly enough.

On the third point we were told that Supporter Services email the purchaser of the memento with a map of the stones showing their exact position.

This seems at first glance an odd system, not least as many of the stones are bought as a gift. We see no reason an index should not be available publicly – preferably on the club website.

Given some supporters have never managed to find their stone at all, we do wonder how accurate these maps are.

Further concerns include programme sellers, bins and even food stalls obscuring stones - something will will monitor as the season progresses.

If you have any problem in this area or see something that needs addressing please email us at info@whuisa.org or Tweet us at @WHU_ISA Please include relevant photos.
